Cascade’s $3.5M Seed Round Signals PropTech Momentum for UAE

DUBAI — Construction technology is drawing fresh venture capital attention as US-based startup Cascade closes a $3.5 million seed round to help contractors find and win projects, a development with direct implications for the UAE’s construction and proptech sectors, where digitization of tendering and bid management remains a persistent pain point.

The round was backed by a16z Speedrun, Ada Ventures, and Snowball VC, three investors known for early-stage bets on software that automates fragmented, paper-heavy industries. Cascade’s platform uses software to help construction firms identify relevant bids and streamline the proposal process, a workflow that in the UAE is still often handled manually across general contractors, subcontractors, and government procurement portals.

Why It Matters for UAE Construction

The UAE’s construction sector remains one of the largest contributors to non-oil GDP, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi authorities pushing ahead with giga-projects tied to Dubai 2040, Abu Dhabi’s Vision 2030, and ongoing infrastructure spending under the UAE’s broader diversification agenda. Yet bid discovery and project matching across free zones, municipal tenders, and private developers remain inefficient, with contractors relying on relationships, brokers, or manual searches across disparate procurement platforms such as Tejari and Etimad-style systems used regionally.

A proven model like Cascade’s, if adapted or replicated locally, could reduce the friction UAE SMEs face when competing against larger, better-connected contractors for public and private tenders. Local proptech and construction-tech founders will be watching how Cascade’s software translates bid intelligence into win rates, a metric increasingly scrutinized by GCC investors evaluating vertical SaaS plays.

Investor Signal for Gulf Vertical SaaS

The seed round also reinforces a broader thesis gaining traction among Gulf-based venture funds: vertical software targeting unglamorous, high-friction industries such as construction, logistics, and trade finance can generate durable revenue with lower customer acquisition costs than horizontal SaaS. Abu Dhabi’s ADQ-backed funds and Dubai-based early-stage investors including BECO Capital and Wamda have increasingly prioritized similar B2B infrastructure plays.

With UAE construction output valued in the tens of billions of dirhams annually, investors expect regional entrants to emerge targeting bid management, subcontractor coordination, and procurement transparency, areas Cascade’s raise signals as increasingly investable globally.
