DUBAI — Saudi Arabia’s fast-growing embedded finance sector has drawn fresh capital that GCC investors are watching closely, with Riyadh-based SILQ securing a $20 million Shariah-compliant structured financing facility from London-headquartered emerging markets specialist Gemcorp Capital. The deal, aimed at scaling embedded financial services for small and medium enterprises across the Kingdom, underscores growing regional appetite for B2B fintech infrastructure that UAE-based venture funds and family offices have increasingly backed over the past two years.

A Merger Bets on Embedded Finance

SILQ was formed through the merger of Sary, a Saudi B2B procurement platform, and ShopUp, and now operates a commerce ecosystem serving more than 50,000 businesses in Saudi Arabia. Its procurement arm and embedded finance platform, Fina, together facilitated over SAR 10 billion in B2B commerce during 2026, according to company figures. The new financing will be channelled through Fina to widen access to invoice financing, trade finance and related working-capital products for merchants who have historically struggled to secure credit from traditional Gulf banks.

Why This Matters for UAE Businesses

For UAE founders and investors, the deal is a signal that Saudi Arabia’s SME lending gap is becoming a serious venture and structured-credit opportunity, one that Dubai-based fintechs and private credit funds are competing to capture. SILQ’s model, embedding credit and payments directly into procurement transactions, mirrors approaches being tested by UAE platforms in construction supply chains, retail distribution and logistics, sectors where cross-border trade with Saudi Arabia is intensifying under GCC economic integration efforts.

Abu Dhabi and Dubai-based investment firms with exposure to Gulf fintech, including sovereign-linked vehicles that have backed regional B2B platforms, are likely to view Gemcorp’s Shariah-compliant structure as a template for future cross-border deals. As Saudi Arabia’s non-oil private sector expands, UAE trade financiers, banks and payment providers operating in the Kingdom may face both new competition and new partnership opportunities from platforms like SILQ, particularly as embedded finance becomes a standard feature of B2B commerce across the GCC rather than a niche offering.
