Samsung Galaxy Unpacked: Snapdragon AI Powers UAE Rollout

DUBAI — Samsung’s latest Galaxy Unpacked lineup, unveiled this week, arrives in UAE retail channels at a moment when Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform is becoming the default engine for on-device artificial intelligence across the smartphone, wearable and smart eyewear categories that Emirati consumers and enterprise buyers are increasingly adopting.

Deeper Qualcomm ties reshape Samsung’s AI roadmap

Samsung has expanded its collaboration with Qualcomm to power the new Galaxy smartphone range, the Galaxy Watch series and its intelligent eyewear products entirely on Snapdragon silicon, dropping its in-house Exynos chips from the watch line altogether. The move signals that Qualcomm’s neural processing capabilities, rather than Samsung’s own semiconductor division, will drive the generative AI features now central to Galaxy marketing — from real-time translation to on-device image generation. For distributors and telecom retailers across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, this consolidation simplifies inventory and after-sales support, since a single chipset architecture now underpins the entire device family sold in the region, including 5G variants tailored for Etisalat by e& and du networks.

Implications for UAE investors and enterprise buyers

The UAE’s push toward AI-enabled government and financial services, formalized through federal digital economy strategies, makes on-device AI processing power commercially relevant beyond consumer electronics. Local system integrators and fintech firms piloting AI-assisted customer service tools will find Snapdragon-based Galaxy devices offer more predictable performance benchmarks for app development, given the standardized chipset across Samsung’s portfolio. Institutional investors tracking Qualcomm, listed on Nasdaq and widely held through GCC sovereign wealth allocations to US technology equities, may view the expanded Samsung partnership as reinforcing Qualcomm’s position against Apple’s vertically integrated silicon strategy. For UAE-based startups building applications for wearables and smart glasses, a category Samsung is now betting on alongside Meta and Google, the Snapdragon standardization offers a clearer development target and potentially faster time-to-market for regional pilots in retail, logistics and hospitality — sectors where Dubai and Abu Dhabi continue to trial wearable-enabled workforce tools. Retail partners including Sharaf DG and Virgin Megastore are expected to stock the new lineup ahead of the fourth-quarter shopping season, with pricing announcements for the region anticipated in the coming weeks.
