India-UAE Deals Worth $15.5bn Signal Bigger Investment Push

India-UAE investment deals

India and the UAE just put some big numbers on the table. At the 14th meeting of the India-UAE High Level Joint Task Force on Investments (HLJTFI), held in Mumbai, officials confirmed deals worth more than $15.5 billion, a signal that money is flowing both ways faster than ever, and that matters if you’re an investor, business owner or job seeker watching this corridor.

What happened in Mumbai between India and the UAE?

The meeting was co-chaired by H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), and Shri Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister of Commerce & Industry. The task force itself isn’t new. It was set up back in 2013 to keep trade and investment ties between the two countries moving forward, and this was its 14th sit-down.

This time, the focus was on expanding investment flows and finding new areas where the two sides can work together. One concrete update: Invest India, the country’s national investment promotion agency, is expected to open an office in the UAE before the end of 2026. That’s a practical step. It means Indian investment guidance and support will have a physical base right here in the region, making it easier for UAE-based investors to explore opportunities in India, and for Indian companies to find their footing in the UAE.

Where the big money is actually going

Three deals stood out at the meeting, and together they add up to roughly $15.5 billion. Emirates NBD’s acquisition of a majority stake in RBL Bank of India, worth around $3 billion, shows a UAE bank betting heavily on India’s financial sector. International Holding Company (IHC) also put in $1 billion into Sammaan Capital, an Indian company, adding another major private investment to the mix.

The biggest figure of all is a joint investment intent of $11.5 billion to build an integrated aluminium complex in Odisha, India. That’s the kind of project that creates jobs, builds industrial capacity, and signals long-term confidence between the two economies, not just a quick trade deal.

For UAE and GCC readers, this is worth paying attention to for a few reasons. First, it shows sovereign and private UAE capital, through ADIA, Emirates NBD and IHC, is actively hunting for opportunities in India across banking, finance and heavy industry. If you’re an investor here, that’s a sign India is being treated as a serious long-term bet, not a side project.

Second, the planned Invest India office in the UAE could make it simpler for smaller investors and businesses, not just the big institutional players, to tap into Indian opportunities. Right now, much of this activity is happening at the sovereign wealth and mega-corporate level. An on-the-ground presence in the UAE could open doors for mid-sized companies too.

Third, the aluminium complex in Odisha is a reminder that India-UAE ties aren’t limited to finance and real estate. Manufacturing and industrial infrastructure are part of the picture too, which matters if you’re in logistics, materials, or supply chain businesses connected to South Asia.

None of this happened in isolation. The task force was created specifically to keep pushing bilateral investment forward, and this meeting shows that mechanism still works more than a decade later. With ADIA’s Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan co-chairing alongside India’s commerce minister, the message is clear: both governments are treating this relationship as a priority, not a formality. You can follow more investment news shaping the UAE and GCC as these ties develop.

What should you watch next? Keep an eye on when exactly Invest India’s UAE office opens its doors before the end of 2026, since that’s the clearest near-term milestone from this meeting. Also worth tracking is whether the $11.5 billion aluminium complex in Odisha moves from “joint investment intent” to an actual signed and funded project, and whether more UAE institutions follow Emirates NBD and IHC’s lead into Indian banking and finance. This report is based on details shared by WAM.
