Fresh Capital for Enterprise AI

Team8, the venture capital firm known for building and backing technology companies from the ground up, has raised $365 million for a new fund aimed at supporting the next generation of artificial intelligence-native enterprise companies. The fund adds to a growing pool of global capital being directed toward startups that are designing their products and business models around AI from inception, rather than retrofitting existing software with AI features.

The firm has built a reputation for a venture-creation model that goes beyond traditional early-stage investing, often working closely with founders to shape company strategy, recruit leadership teams and identify market opportunities before a startup formally launches. The new fund is expected to extend that approach to a wave of companies built specifically to take advantage of advances in generative and enterprise AI, targeting sectors such as cybersecurity, fintech, healthcare technology and enterprise software.

The raise comes at a time when investor appetite for AI-focused venture funds remains strong globally, even as broader venture capital fundraising has cooled in several markets. Enterprise AI in particular has drawn significant interest from institutional investors seeking exposure to companies that can demonstrate clear revenue models and defensible technology, rather than purely experimental AI applications.

Why It Matters for Gulf Investors

The fundraising underscores a broader trend of capital consolidation around specialized AI-focused venture vehicles, a pattern that is increasingly relevant to investors in the UAE and wider Gulf region. Sovereign wealth funds and family offices across the GCC have in recent years expanded their exposure to global technology venture capital, including funds focused on artificial intelligence, as part of efforts to diversify national economies away from hydrocarbons and build long-term technology capabilities.

The UAE in particular has positioned itself as a hub for AI investment and policy, with government-backed entities and private investors actively seeking partnerships with international venture firms and technology companies. Gulf-based investors have shown particular interest in enterprise-focused AI applications in areas such as cybersecurity, financial services and energy technology — sectors that align closely with regional economic priorities and infrastructure investment plans.

As global venture firms like Team8 raise larger pools of capital dedicated to AI-native enterprise startups, the resulting portfolio companies could present potential investment, partnership or market-entry opportunities for Gulf sovereign funds, corporates and technology ecosystems looking to deepen their presence in the AI sector.

The new fund also reflects continued confidence among institutional investors in the long-term commercial potential of enterprise AI, even as questions persist globally about valuations and the pace of adoption across industries. Team8’s model of building companies with a defined enterprise focus is expected to be positioned as a differentiator in an increasingly crowded field of AI-focused venture funds competing for both capital and promising founding teams.

Further details on the fund’s specific portfolio strategy, backers and investment timeline are expected to emerge as Team8 begins deploying the capital toward new and existing portfolio companies in the enterprise AI space.
