Corgi Hits $4B Valuation in AI Insurance Funding Surge

DUBAI — U.S. insurance technology startup Corgi has raised fresh funding at a $4 billion valuation, its third round in eight weeks, in a financing pace that is drawing close attention from Gulf-based venture investors and sovereign-linked funds active in artificial intelligence and fintech deals.

Rapid repricing highlights AI-driven funding frenzy

Corgi, which uses AI models to underwrite and price commercial insurance policies, has more than doubled its valuation since its previous round roughly two months ago, according to people familiar with the deal. The company has not disclosed the identity of new backers, but the round follows a pattern seen across AI-adjacent sectors this year, where investors are competing to lock in allocations before valuations climb further. For UAE and wider GCC limited partners who allocate capital to U.S. venture funds — including Mubadala, ADQ and Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, all of which have expanded exposure to late-stage AI companies — the speed of Corgi’s re-pricing underscores both the opportunity and the risk premium now embedded in AI-linked insurance and fintech bets.

Relevance for UAE insurtech and regional underwriting

The UAE insurance market, regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE, has seen growing interest in AI-based underwriting tools from firms such as Dubai-based Peace of Mind and other regional insurtech entrants seeking to modernize commercial lines pricing. Corgi’s valuation trajectory offers a reference point for local founders pitching AI-native underwriting platforms to Gulf investors, many of whom are increasingly comparing regional deal terms against U.S. benchmarks. It also raises questions for UAE-based insurers and reinsurers evaluating partnerships or technology licensing with AI underwriting startups, given how quickly valuations — and expectations — are moving in this segment globally.

Corgi has not commented publicly on the reported round. Investors in Dubai International Financial Centre and Abu Dhabi Global Market, where several venture funds maintain U.S. exposure, are expected to watch whether the pace of AI-insurance financing rounds continues into 2025, particularly as regional regulators weigh how AI-driven underwriting models might eventually be deployed within UAE-licensed insurance frameworks.
