Emarat teams up with G42 to bring AI to UAE fuel stations

AI fuel stations UAE

Emarat, the UAE’s homegrown fuel and energy company, is joining forces with Abu Dhabi’s AI giant G42 to bring artificial intelligence into everyday energy services. If you fill up your car at an Emarat station or follow UAE tech news, this deal could shape what your next pit stop looks like.

The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, or MoU, which is essentially a formal agreement to explore working together before anything becomes official policy. Ahmad Abdulla Al Ahli, Chief People and Corporate Support Officer of Emarat, signed on behalf of the fuel company. Ali Al Amine, Chief Commercial Officer of G42 International, signed for the AI firm.

What AI in UAE energy and fuel stations could actually mean

The agreement covers a handful of areas that sound technical but have real-world uses. Think AI tools designed specifically for the energy sector, stronger digital security, and what the companies call “next-generation service station concepts.”

That last phrase is worth pausing on. It suggests Emarat is looking at reimagining what a petrol station actually does and feels like, using digital tools to improve the experience for customers. The MoU also mentions “digital sovereignty,” a term that refers to keeping data and digital systems under local control rather than depending entirely on external providers. For a national energy company, that matters when it comes to protecting sensitive operational data.

Cybersecurity is another focus area named in the agreement. As more of Emarat’s operations become digital and data-driven, protecting that infrastructure from cyber threats becomes just as important as protecting physical fuel supply chains.

Why this partnership matters for the UAE’s bigger tech push

This deal fits into a much larger pattern happening across the UAE right now. G42 has become one of the country’s flagship AI companies, and its growing list of partnerships across different industries shows how seriously the UAE is investing in becoming a global AI hub. Energy is a massive part of the UAE economy, so bringing advanced AI capabilities into that sector is a logical next step.

For Emarat specifically, the company describes this as supporting “the next phase of Emarat’s transformation.” That phrase suggests this isn’t a one-off experiment but part of a longer-term strategy to modernize how the company runs, from backend operations to the customer-facing experience at the pump.

The MoU also talks about building “secure infrastructure” and “enhanced customer experiences.” In plain terms, that likely means smarter systems behind the scenes paired with a smoother, more digital experience for people using Emarat’s services. Exactly what that looks like in practice, whether it is app-based services, automated systems at stations, or something else, hasn’t been detailed yet. The agreement is still at the exploratory stage.

It is also worth noting the companies describe this as supporting innovation “across the energy value chain.” That is a broad term covering everything from how energy is sourced and processed to how it eventually reaches consumers. Applying AI across that whole chain, rather than just one piece of it, points to an ambitious scope, even if the details are still being worked out.

For UAE and GCC readers, this kind of move is becoming a familiar story. Traditional sectors, whether energy, retail, or logistics, are increasingly partnering with AI specialists to stay competitive and modern. Readers who follow technology news in the region will recognize this as part of a broader wave of AI adoption sweeping through non-tech industries here.

So what happens next? Right now, this is a signed intention to collaborate, not a finished product or rollout plan. The real test will be seeing which of these ideas, AI tools for energy, new station concepts, stronger digital security, actually make it from paper to practice. As reported by GCC Business News, both companies describe this as a step toward a “smarter, data-driven, and future-ready” Emarat. Watch for further announcements detailing concrete projects or timelines as this partnership moves from exploration to execution.
