Anduril’s $100B Valuation Draw Gulf Sovereign Funds

ABU DHABI — Gulf sovereign wealth funds with a track record of backing US defence technology are watching Anduril Industries’ latest capital raise, as the California-based defence contractor is reportedly in talks to secure funding at a valuation of roughly $100 billion, more than triple the $14 billion mark it commanded a year ago, according to Reuters.

Why the Valuation Jump Matters to Gulf Capital

Anduril, founded by Palmer Luckey, builds autonomous drones, surveillance towers and AI-driven defence systems, and has become a bellwether for investor appetite in the defence-tech sector amid rising global military spending. The reported valuation surge comes as sovereign wealth funds across the UAE, including Mubadala Investment Company and ADQ, have steadily increased exposure to US technology and defence-adjacent ventures over the past two years, both through direct stakes and via venture funds such as Founders Fund, an existing Anduril backer.

A round of this size, if finalised, would likely draw participation from large institutional pools of capital, a category Gulf sovereign funds increasingly occupy. Abu Dhabi’s growing appetite for AI and autonomous systems investment, evident in recent deals involving G42 and international chipmakers, positions local allocators to consider participation in future Anduril rounds or adjacent defence-tech opportunities, even if this particular raise is dominated by US investors.

Implications for UAE Founders and the Regional Ecosystem

For UAE-based founders in dual-use technology, robotics and AI, Anduril’s trajectory offers a valuation benchmark that could influence how regional venture capital firms price defence-adjacent startups. Abu Dhabi’s Hub71 and Dubai’s tech accelerators have both signalled interest in attracting deep-tech and defence-technology companies, and a $100 billion Anduril valuation strengthens the argument that hardware-heavy, government-facing startups can command premium multiples typically reserved for software firms.

The development also underscores intensifying competition for capital in defence technology globally, a sector where UAE state entities have signalled long-term strategic interest given the country’s own defence manufacturing ambitions through EDGE Group. Anduril’s fundraising talks, if they close near the reported figure, would mark one of the largest private valuations in the defence sector, a signal regional investors are unlikely to ignore as they calibrate exposure to dual-use technology globally.
